Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
